Handy Way to Remove Permanent Marker

70% isopropyl alcohol removes permanent marker from non-porous surfaces. I found these empty pump bottles for fingernail polish remover at my local dollar store (in two sizes). I have also found them on Amazon for around 4/$10.
I labeled the bottle with a sticker and covered it with clear packing tape to protect the label.

Fill the pump bottle with rubbing alcohol. Use a cotton ball or a cotton round to depress the pumper. I like the cotton rounds because you can store them by stacking them neatly on top of the bottle.
Opening the cap and pumping can easily be done with one hand.

Rub the permanent marker with the cotton round, pumping more rubbing alcohol as needed.

Black permanent marker comes off more easily than red permanent marker, which tends to stain.

I am removing permanent marker from laminated cardstock with a magnet on the back. I use these tags on my metal door where I keep a running calendar.

This is my metal door. I keep it updated with important event information. Parents like to take a picture of the door for easy reference.

Calendar Headers are available free from Ashley Sanderson's Teachers Pay Teachers store. (They have been updated since I printed them up.) Link is here:
